“I have degrees in data science and business administration, yet I agreed to teach a summer graduate course in event simulations and found myself unfamiliar with the content. The course's homework included errors and inconsistencies within the homework templates, and the answer keys seemed to point to certain older assignments that didn't align to the current ones, making them unreliable for me. Daniel helped me build the right answers to multiple Monte Carlo homework problems, giving me an answer key that helped me grade homework with confidence.”
— Angela, 6 lessons with Daniel
“I have to take an online stats class with no lectures and no live support during the summer. Daniel helped me figure out how to work ALEKS, install Excel through my student benefits, work a TI 84 calculator for all of the Probability, Combinatorics, Confidence Interval, Hypothesis Test, and Regression problems, and go over many practice problems so that I could do well on the exams. He basically gave lectures as we went through my practice material, acting as a personal professor. Exactly what I needed as a non-math student!”
— Helisa, 89 lessons with Daniel
“I'm a math professor consulting on a problem with an applied statistics problem and I asked seven clueless stats PhDs to help me before I found Daniel. He took me through his idea and then used the particular information in our scenario to apply a statistical test for an answer to our question! Highly recommended.”

“My son is taking AP precalculus in 10th grade. This is the first time this particular course is being taught in high school. The teacher is still learning the curriculum. I noticed my son’s grades slipping. That’s when we found Daniel on Wyzant. I was skeptical about remote learning for such a difficult class, however, Daniel convinced me to give it a try. I’m glad we did. The first class my son had with Daniel was truly eye-opening. My son realized how much he really does NOT know. He appreciates Daniel‘s style of teaching — Daniel is teaching him how to ‘think’ and understand each step of the process. If you’re looking for a great precalculus tutor — look no further! Give Daniel a try — you won’t regret it.”

“I went back to school for my MBA while working in the C-Suite and Daniel has been so helpful, reviewing material from high school and college to help me understand Regression, Hypothesis Testing, Confidence Intervals, Probability Linear Programming, and more. He is very clear and the only tutor I've met who's been able to make online sessions work for me! Daniel went over Expected Value and Variance Formulas and tricks and proved a few of the equations for me, and we also covered Confidence Intervals and Hypothesis Testing. Then, for a different course, we talked about Linear Regression, including Interaction Terms and Logistic Regression and doing them in R. I have found him to be supremely knowledgeable about Probability and Statistics”
— Susan , 21 lessons with Daniel
“Daniel is the best tutor I have ever had. He not only takes time on his own to understand what the problems, but he cares if he is doing a good job and helping. He wants to understand how each class is graded and wants to ensure my success. He always makes time and is just an awesome person! I love working with him!”
— Susan , 21 lessons with Daniel

“Daniel uses instructive examples and questions to help my daughter understand that she actually does have all of the knowledge she needs to solve her homework problems. This has improved her confidence while also improving her practical skills. She's really bright and is in Honors Trigonometry and Geometry but her teacher doesn't really do examples in class or connect the information with the homework and exam problems. Daniel bridged the gap for us. He helped Lauren with all sorts of problems relating to similar triangles, finding angles, areas, and lengths, regular polygon angle problems, Trigonometric Identities and the Unit Circle, and algebra and graphing problems (lines, circles, ellipses, parabolas etc.). We had mostly been trying college students or tutors with teaching degrees before now, but Daniel simply has been learning and teaching math for decades. In her words, "finally, a smart tutor!"”
— Martin, 59 lessons with Daniel
“I was having trouble with my economics homework and Daniel was able to patiently explain the concepts in a clear/concise manner. He's knowledgeable and doesn't make you feel dumb when you make a mistake. He's a great tutor.”
— Dan, 1 lesson with Daniel
“Daniel was very helpful for my psychology research project. He was instrumental in getting me to ask very specific questions that could be answered with the available statistical tests. After that, Daniel helped me relabel the data in Excel and generate some new variables. We then ran the appropriate tests in SPSS. We did ANOVA tests, T-tests, and Chi-Square tests, and he explained p-values and other essential topics to me. Daniel gave me the tools to run further analyses on my own and helped me understand how to think about the data that I had. He was helpful, responsive, and reliable. Thank you!”

“We found Daniel to be a very competent resource to review and practice for the Regents. After a short meeting, Daniel was able to identify some topics my son needed help with and gave him impromptu lessons and practice in Trigonometry, Algebra (graphing and y=mx+b), and Geometry problems involving angles and areas. We're glad we found you and looking forward to working with you from now on!”

“I met Daniel while in the middle of a few very hard courses in the Masters in Biostatistics program at a top Graduate School. I had started the program with less background than most, but Daniel was able to support me and develop the understanding of theoretical Probability and Statistics (the Calculus-based courses, leading up to topics like Maximum Likelihood Estimation and Method of Moments) that I needed as well as help me debug and edit code. Discussing the theories of different models and hypothesis testing with Daniel broadened and deepened my understanding and intuition so much! I had been nervous about online tutoring, but with Zoom, screen-sharing and screen-controlling, and his writing pad, he was able to help me just as well! He is also very responsive and willing to call to clarify scheduling or any issues you may have.”

“Daniel helped me understand R code and rewrite it to copy a process I had seen in a Financial Software I was using. We also had an instructive conversation about the meanings of Correlation and Statistical Significance. I like his understanding of how to set up workflows and verify that they are correct as well. He tries and shows smaller examples to verify a process and to get a point across to a student. After working a little bit with Daniel, I’ve learned some useful shortcuts in R Studio and I see myself becoming a better coder and user of Statistics and Financial Data as I work more with him.”
— Beekman, 2 lessons with Daniel
“Before meeting with Daniel, I was really confused about the logic in some of the topics in my Mathematical Statistics class such as Functions of Random Variables, Jointly Distributed Random Variables, Transformations, finding PDFs and CDFs, MLE (Maximum Likelihood Estimation), MME (Method of Moments Estimation), finding Asymptotic Variance, knowing which Confidence Interval to apply for a problem, and more. Daniel's teaching style uses progressively more complex examples and involves the student in the problem-solving process. He also relates everything back to probability and emphasizes its importance in every statistics topic. His Probability First method makes a lot of sense - we cannot understand statistics without probability. I find myself better prepared for tests in the class and it has shown through my improving scores. If you are struggling in any probability or statistics class, I would recommend Daniel!”
— Gabriel, 12 lessons with Daniel
“Daniel really helped me understand the basic concepts in my calc-based probability and statistics class! Random Variables, CDF, PDF, covariance and correlation, using integrals to find expected value, conditional and marginal distributions, and much more! He also knows the basic topics from my AP class - z score, t score, hypothesis testing and p values and everything else. He explains all the concepts in such a way that the theoretical and the hypothesis testing parts really come together”
— Alia, 1 lesson with Daniel
“I was really confused in this class before I met Daniel. He is very knowledgeable about all things Probability and Statistics. He helped me with AP Statistics, talking about how to think about data, (two dimensional, one dimensional, categorical, and their visualizations), linear regressions, and interpreting them (slope, R squared, p values). He also helped me with probability material including distributions like the binomial and geometric, and then continuous topics as well, such as the Normal, Z, and T distributions and how we use them in statistical tests. The tests we discussed included Z and T tests for means and proportions and chi squared test.”

“Daniel is an amazing econometrics tutor! He helped me simplify a lot of the harder topics which made it much easier to understand the content. He helped with stata and covering many important topics in econometrics ranging from basic to more complex ideas. He also helped me understand how regression works in general, regression coefficients, standard errors, t tests, z tests for mean and proportion, two-sample tests for differences in mean/proportion, and how to implement regression in STATA and interpret the output. Overall an amazing tutor and I highly recommend!”

“Daniel was able to analyze my assignment instructions along with the data attached to it. He was able to merge, filter, and arrange data until the results fit the description. He was able to determine when it was appropriate to use different functions depending on what the instructions called for and what type of data we were dealing with. He made a ggplot where he assigned the x and y variables, the theme, text size, and color. He also assisted me in creating a tibble and taught me how to use R Markdown. Typically whenever I do these assignments, it can take me all night due to the errors that come up when pulling data from an excel file. Daniel was able to save me a lot of time by quickly troubleshooting error messages until each line of code was successful.”
— Charley, 1 lesson with Daniel
“Went through calculations and functions in R with me. Means, standard deviations and standard errors using stock returns in R. Really knowledgeable on the subject and was willing to explain things further and go into more detail. Definitely recommend.”

“Daniel is amazing! I had a very difficult statistics midterm that was coming up and felt that I was completely unprepared. That was when I reached out to Daniel. During our first session, Daniel explained the topics to me in a way that was incredibly easy to understand, which was very different from my professor. We went over topics that included Bayes’ Theorem, probability of repeated independent events, permutations, binomial probability distribution, expected value, variance/covariance, joint probability, and more. He knows every topic extremely well and was able to help me through my struggles. I noticed that my understanding of the material that would be on the midterm increased after working with Daniel, and I decided to do one more session with him before the big test. After the second session, I felt very confident in my knowledge, thanks to Daniel, and was ready for the test. Upon getting my grade back, I realized I was near the top of my class at NYU. He is now helping me through statistics topics such as Z scores and Z table, T table, T tests, and Chi Square tests and tables. Thank you Daniel!!!”

“He is a very kind and understanding tutor. He did not get frustrated with me for not understanding concepts and went over them with me as many times as I needed. We went over concepts like moment generating functions, maximum likelihood estimators, moment estimates, and more. He is also a great online tutor, he writes on a white board through zoom. There are never any technical issues and it is nice being able to share my screen with him when I need to. He also sends the note pages he writes to you after as PDF’s which really helps me. He knew how to answer every question I asked and overall I was very relieved to find a tutor who knew advanced statistics because I am a junior in college. A lot of tutors only tutor up to the high school level but he knows so much about the subjects he teaches that he is able to benefit me greatly as a mathematics and statistics major. I really wish I had him for AP statistics in high school.”

“Daniel is a fantastic statistics tutor for graduate students. I was taking an accelerated online probability and statistics course (HUDM 4122 at Teachers' College, Columbia) this summer, and Daniel was able to help guide me through all of the concepts with ease. He is able to explain concepts, connect them to real life, and offer more practice problems. I was able to complete all of my homeworks without difficulty, and and he helped me go through every topic I needed before exams. Daniel was available whenever I needed him, through email or by phone. I have very little statistics/math experience, and Daniel was able to refresh my basic knowledge and apply it to higher level concepts. We covered topics such as conditional probability, counting rules, events, discrete random variable, binomial probability, hypergeometric probability, normal distribution/standard normal distribution, calculating probability using normal table, how to use a T table, normal approximation to the binomial probability, sampling theory, estimation/ statistical test of hypothesis, tests about a population mean, tests for difference between two populations, and test for correlation. Daniel was able to answer all of my questions throughout the entire course. Daniel went through every lecture carefully with me, because I did not have an official class structure due to the online format. I was able to confidently complete all exams on my own thanks to his support. I would recommend him to anyone taking an undergraduate or graduate course in statistics, especially if the course is online. Thanks Daniel!”

“Daniel is an excellent tutor. When I was panicking over my trigonometry homework, or to be more specific, a problem that involved using a graphing calculator to approximate the solutions of an equation involving sine and cosine. I was blown away, and I didn’t know how to solve it. That is when Daniel stepped in and helped. Not only did he understand the material and help me out, but he also gave me a greater appreciation and understanding of trigonometry. For example, when we were discussing trigonometry, he explained to me where the unit circle comes from and discussed proofs for a few trigonometric identities. These insights brought an excitement and appreciation to trigonometry that I lacked prior to this. From the way that Daniel explained the material, I was able to tell that he has a great proficiency and understanding in higher level mathematics. I would definitely recommend Daniel to anyone who is looking for a great tutor who not only knows the material and could explain it, but who is also patient and cares about the student.”
— Shmuel, 56 lessons with Daniel
“Probability and statistics are hard. I have long struggled with these topics. I’ve worked with many statisticians who are great navigating through the weeds. But Daniel is the first person who effortlessly cycles between the 30,000-foot view and the nitty gritty details on the ground. If I don’t have the context for why I’m doing what I’m doing, I get lost. Or if I’m not lost, I won’t remember why I did what I did. For instance, he recently helped me bridge the gap between the probability world and the statistics world. He first built the “big picture” contextual framework around the topics and terminology. He then developed, in real time, a small data set in Rstudio to demonstrate the probability world. We then “worked up” and linked it to a distribution in the statistics world. We learned that the normal distribution was not appropriate, thereby leading us to discuss other ones such as the binomial distribution. The online format works well because we can bounce across the white board, Rstudio, Wikipedia, video, etc.. It’s very convenient to share session notes and documents online. I am (finally!) reaching a deeper understanding of these topics with Daniel.”

“He knows his stuff! What can I say that the other respondents haven't already said? He is definitely efficient. He does not lengthen sessions with unnecessary communications, which I tend to like. Comes to sessions well-prepared. When he needs to research something, he is adept at finding answers quickly. Is extremely effective with the whiteboard. I know this because I can return to his notes having forgotten information and remember instantly what we discussed from the notes.”
— Aderus, 13 lessons with Daniel
“Daniel is very talented and exceptionally smart regarding Tableau, Excel, and Statistics in general. He is very patient and responsive and has great hours and availability as some of the tutors I work with only want to tutor at night. I highly recommend Daniel, A+ and five stars.”
— Mitchell, 9 lessons with Daniel
“Daniel helped me learn business calculus. Without him I would have done a whole lot worse in the class. He helped me understand the concepts and apply them. I like how he encourages me to do the best I can in the class. Daniel has helped me accomplish my business calculus class.”
— Robin, 33 lessons with Daniel
“It was extremely hard finding a tutor that was familiar with the concepts I was learning in my Statistics class, until Daniel reached out to me offering help. He uses active learning techniques so I was able to retain information much better from his sessions. He uses Zoom and his writing pad very effectively. He actually went through all of my material from the class with me and I gained a lot of clarity. Some concepts he helped me understand included: Law of Large Numbers, Central Limit Theorem, Maximum Likelihood Estimation, Method of Moments, Confidence Intervals, and Chi-Square Distributions. These were all challenging for me to grasp because of how theoretical the concepts were, but he made the problems much easier to navigate, and we worked through many difficult problems together.”
— Vicki, 8 lessons with Daniel
“Daniel is currently helping me with my upper-division Mathematical Statistics class. He is extremely knowledgeable in all things statistics, probability, and calculus. He has helped me understand many topics such as maximum likelihood estimation, method of moments, sufficient statistics, asymptotic distributions, almost sure convergence, convergence in probability, convergence in distribution, delta method, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. He always makes sure I understand the information and always answers any questions I have. The sessions are super easy to follow as Daniel utilizes the whiteboard feature on zoom with the help of his writing pad. This way he is able to upload the whiteboard pdfs into dropbox, as well as any other documents either of us wants to share with one another, allowing me to have quick and easy access to anything we have gone over in previous sessions.”
— Sandra, 18 lessons with Daniel
“I have been working with Daniel for several months now. He provides me with patient and knowledgeable assistance in understanding detailed Probability and Statistics problems using RStudio. As a new user to RStudio and LaTeX, I was given plenty of opportunity to learn and practice beginner through basic and advanced user skills. He took the time to explain data sets, data values, and what the functions and tests were doing behind the scenes at the level I needed to understand and interpret results. Some of the methods used included Student's T Test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test, Sign Test, Mann Whitney U Test, Fisher's Exact Test, and more. All graphical representations such as scatter plots, density plots, qq plots, and histograms were easily generated and explained to support analysis of data. Easily transitioned back and forth between Probability and Statistics using RStudio and Linear Algebra throughout this term. Quite a bit of time spent on transformations of matrices. This included basics of addition, multiplication, Reduced Row Echelon Form and through more complex methods such as Graham-Schmidt and SVD. He provided the support I needed to understand basis, subspace, vectors, eigenvalues and eigenvectors and how these relate to the matrices and/or how to find them. Thanks so much Daniel!!”

“Daniel is an incredible tutor and a skilled teacher. He met with me on short notice and picked up my difficult Econometrics material immediately, able to explain in great detail. He is the kind of tutor that ensures his student is learning, not just listening. Upon me asking, or if he simply noticed I looked confused, Daniel could break down concepts and give real-world examples. After repeating a concept a few times, he began asking me to solve basic parts of the question- this application while in-session was fantastic. It is such a valuable skill in a tutor teaching a complex subject like Econometrics. I recommend Daniel for anyone, but especially Economics and Econometrics students in need of help– he is a tutor that will strengthen your understanding and help you succeed in the course.”
— Lilly, 8 lessons with Daniel
