“Probability and statistics are hard. I have long struggled with these topics. I’ve worked with many statisticians who are great navigating through the weeds. But Daniel is the first person who effortlessly cycles between the 30,000-foot view and the nitty gritty details on the ground. If I don’t have the context for why I’m doing what I’m doing, I get lost. Or if I’m not lost, I won’t remember why I did what I did. For instance, he recently helped me bridge the gap between the probability world and the statistics world. He first built the “big picture” contextual framework around the topics and terminology. He then developed, in real time, a small data set in Rstudio to demonstrate the probability world. We then “worked up” and linked it to a distribution in the statistics world. We learned that the normal distribution was not appropriate, thereby leading us to discuss other ones such as the binomial distribution.
