If my child still does not understand after your explanation, you should explain it again. ChatGPT cannot replace a teacher. From a parent’s perspective, I cannot understand why you would allow the use of ChatGPT during an online class. You mentioned that using ChatGPT would help my child understand how to solve the problems, but in reality, what is happening is that my 9-year-old is typing the math questions into ChatGPT during the online class and then simply passing the answers to you. I personally witnessed this with my own eyes. I contacted you and asked that its use be limited, but it seemed that you still did not see any issue with it. Unfortunately, it seems this is where we must stop. I tried to be understanding even when you joined the class 1–2 minutes late each week, but it is difficult for us to continue classes that are moving in a direction different from what we, as parents, expect. ⠀ [2026.3.11] Additionally, I would like to share that I felt a little surprised when reading your message, as it seemed to suggest that the situation was mainly my son’s responsibility. Regarding the use of ChatGPT during the lesson, you mentioned that my son wanted to use it for comparison while working on the math problem, and that was why you allowed it. However, my son explained to me that he asked about using ChatGPT because he was having trouble understanding the explanation. In a one-on-one lesson, when a child finds a concept difficult, I believe the teacher’s guidance can play an important role in helping the child work through the difficulty. You also mentioned that a similar situation could potentially happen in another teacher’s class, which I understand as a concern. However, I do wonder whether many teachers would allow a nine-year-old child, who is still quite young and developing self-discipline, to use ChatGPT during an online lesson—especially in an online environment where supervision can already be more challenging. As parents, we do try our best to check that our child is participating well during online classes. However, it is difficult for us to sit beside him and monitor him closely for the entire 50-minute lesson. For that reason, we feel that allowing the use of ChatGPT during class for a child of this age may not have been the most appropriate approach.”
